On Koninginnedag (which's actually the Queen's MUM's birthday), the police does not interfere in ANY party for 24hours!!! So, the whole country parties and gets drunk. Amsterdam is one huge party!!
People also take their furniture and hifi outside and watch the crowd pass by on their boats. We were (2005) right next to the Montelbaans Tower...
