I really love all these bird photos that you put up Kamaly. They are really great. You must be able to get really close, I see you have used the S3.

Thanks, marbiz - I was kayaking, and the tree was up pretty close to the edge of the island. It was calm enough to use the S3 and not my little water resistant camera, but I didn't want to risk the work camera out in a kayak!

Hi kamaly I have looked at this picture again fully magnified and the way that hawk is looking at you is so funny, almost cross-eyed! What type of hawk is it? We have hawks here but I've not seen them so big.

Thanks, marbiz! I think it's a Red-tailed Hawk, which seems to be the most common type around here, but I'm not positive. There were two of them, and they were not happy that I was there, at all . But they didn't just fly away, so I wonder if maybe one of them was a fledgling, and the mom was the one yelling at me. But it made for an interesting show!

and after a little Raptor show I was at today, I found out that this noisy noisy hawk was most likely a Red-shouldered hawk. The handler described them a bit as the chihuahua of the hawk family: small and really inclined to make a lot of noise! And the one at the show sat there calling and looking just like this one.
