Fatehpur Sikri is a city,43 Km from Agra, India. The historical city was constructed by Mughal emperor Akbar beginning in 1570 and served as the empire's capital from 1571 until 1585, when it was abandoned for reasons that remain unclear, may be due to scarcity of water. The buildings mostly made of red sandstone and marbles. The surviving palace and mosque are a tourist attraction and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Thank you Zaman, for guiding me to this great photo of a wonderful building! There are seven domes again.

And again I was somehow convinced that there must be a significance to the number seven, so I searched on the internet. It seems, I was on the right track, also that the domes symbolize heaven or universe. The symbolism of the number seven. I am fascinated, because to know things like that, make us better understand and more able to read the history and traditions of the people.

Warmest regards, May
