One ranger at False Cape noted that she had spotted over 100 water moccasins in one summer day. I spotted only 5. This one was in a small pond roughly 20 feet long and 5 feet across. Another coiled cottonmouth was less than 15 feet away; also coiled but unthreatened by my proximity.
