After the heavy rains of the weekend, Hints ford was perilously deep and large on Saturday 6th September 2008. From the pedestrian bridge, the flow of the Black Brook looked fast and threatening - for once, I opted to cycle round it via the footpath rather than cycle through.
By the next day the flow had subsided and, although well above usual levels, the deluge appeared to be on the wane. As I was to find out later, the floodwaters had gradually displaced to the Tame, with destructive results.
