Good Gracious! What a house! You know it's got some good stories to tell. Beautiful!
Before I moved to L.A. I used to ride by this house many years ago when it was just standing there. I kept hoping that someone would eventually restore it. It's was obvious that it was filled with history and rare because it was a three story house. I'm overjoyed to see it restored to it's former beauty. I'll make sure I ride by it when ever I'm visiting there again. Is there any history to the house that you know of?
Here is a small caption I have about this house on my website, Foxx Trotter's Cavern:
Towering over the Downtown Historic District of Raleigh is the recently restored Heck-Andrews House. It was built in 1869 and is a Second Empire Style construction. The house was originally owned by industrialist Jonathan McGee Heck (1831-1894) and his wife Mattie. One of their twelve children, social activist Fannie E.S. Heck (1862-1915), was president of the both the state and national Women's Missionary Union.
The Heck-Andrews House is currently owned by the State of North Carolina. It has been used for state offices in the past.
