This terrace of small houses was built for the people displaced by the clearances (1829 to 1840). The rent was too high and they had lost their source of income. They did not take up the offer and emigrated, mostly to Canada.

The same happened with the Twelve Apostles, a terrace of cottages built in Catacol.

They are now both highly desirable and valuable property.
