This is a perfect fairy parasol. I just love the detail in the moss at its base too. You can even see the patch of shade ready for a weary little person to shelter in comfort and lean against the stem. Perfect in every detail, Jean.
You must spend considerable time with your nose pressed to the ground?!
Thank you so much for your exertions, on behalf of everyone who enjoys these photos...I hope you are able to get up again with no difficulties, but you have me wondering as you said you wouldn't be able to make a quick exit from the middle of the road....?
Very best wishes,
Sue, thank you again! I think you are right, it does look like a fairy parasol. Don has been trying to help me with identification.
Maybe if I google that, I will get some results. Ha! ........There is such a thing! I think I will try that for a title. Maybe someone will know if it is wrong and give me the correct name of this mushroom...
No, I don't get on the ground but I do bend. I broke my ankle in 8 places and dislocated my foot a few years ago and it doesn't like to get up and down off the ground. This camera has a large enough screen on the back of it so that I can just bend over and place the camera there. I am great at touching my toes!
I am trying to learn the names of the mushrooms but when I try to learn even one example, the pictures begin to look like they are about a thousand different kinds. It is mind boggling, and mine is boggled.
Thanks again Sue!
Hi Jean, I wasn't actually trying to identify it, but I just thought it looked like a fairy parasol! I wouldn't have a clue what any of them are, believe me, they are all so beautiful though, I am so glad you're taking photos of them.
Very kind regards to you, and good luck with your identifying them all. I wouldn't know where to start!
Sue, I don't think it is a real name, but more of an adjective. You are certainly very good with words. This is just one tiny example!
Thanks again! Jean
i plan to order one of these this week, it was recommended to me by my old boss who studied mushrooms in college. the closest result that I got was a shaggy parasol mushroom, i can't see much of the cap but it looks shaggy.
Don, that DOES look like a really good one! There is one at the local library so I will check it out before I buy it. Macon County has a pretty good public library.
Thanks for all your help!! Hope you are getting lots of mushroom photos this weekend.
