As a child back in the 50s i used to go fishing under the bridge. i would stop by the kiosk, buy a Salutaris and a big cuban cracker and I would spend the day fishing there. I used worms to catch sardines, that I used to catch bait fish(pilchards) By looking at the satellite picture I can tell that the whole area has changed considerably. i lived in the town of Batabano for many years. Our house was in front of the park, close to the church. Thanks for the memories!!

Mi padre empezo a trabajar en ese muelle en 1907. Su hermano mayor era el capataz. Despues tubo barcos que atracaban en el muelle. Los nombres de los barcos que creo recordar eran La Laura, El Temerario, El Jose Freire. En 1966 lo vi por ultima vez hasta este momento que veo esta foto.

Que bueno oír a un Freire hablar de Surgidero,la familia Freire era uarte de Surgidero.Su abuelo y su abuela Emilia,y muchos hijos inclyuendo a Adelfa,Dorpthy,Carmita,la esposa de Felix Naveránn cuyo nombre no recuerdoy varios varones. me parece estar pasando por la Calle Real y estra viendo al Sr. Freire y a su esposa recostados a la baranda de su portal.Una gran familia de Surgidero.
