Bernie Calvert from the "Hollies" lived at the end of Barrowford which is parallel to Nelson in the direction of Pendle Hill. He lived down "Slipper Lane" for many years with his wife Shirley and daughter Jane until they divorced and he went to live in the village of Barrowford where I believe he opend a small shop. When he lived down Slipper Lane he had a large lake on his property which he allowed me to fish, much to the envy of many others. I used to meet him regularly and have a chat. He showed me his Gold Disc that the Hollies got for their Best Of album on one occasion when he'd invited me in for a cup of tea. On another occasion he gave me some tropical fish that had out grown his aquarium. He was a really nice, down to earth guy with no air or graces about him. The drummer for the Hollies also came from the same area - Barley to be exact.
