Hello Karolina:

I have already arrived, in my visit, at your country which I have an enormous desire to visit. If the photos that I have left to see are like this, my desire is going away to increase considerably. I do not know if this beauty is due to the reality or to see it through your eyes, and I hope that with a normal glance it also is so beautiful.

The river that appears is the Vístula?. What are the buildings of the left? When you get tired of my questions, say me it and I will become silent because I do not want to bother it nor to abuse the amiability that you have demonstrated, really you are a heavens.

Apparently in the one of the crocodile we agreed many people.

Cheers, Arturo.

Hello again Arturo :) I'm glad that you like my photos of Poland and you want to come here. As everywhere, here are many beautiful places and others not special at all... But I think that it is worth going to any place and you can always find there something that would be interesting for you. It is good to be open-minded while goig somewhere :) Yes, the river is Vistula. The buildings on the left are granaries built in 1346 - 1365 and the tower is a part of St. Nicolas Church built between XIII and XV century. Regards

Hello Karolina, Your photos are beautiful. In doing genealogy research about my great grandfather August Pokrop I found an old photo circa 1850's of him taken in "Graudenx" which in Polish is Grudziadz. The phototagrapher's name on the back is "Bulonius Lulkonski" (my spelling may be off). August left Poland in 1882 and came to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA. This is the first clue I have had as to where he may have come from in Poland. How would Pokrop be spelled in Poland? I hope to visit Poland some day and hope to find where August came from. Would you know any genealogy researchers in your city that I could contact to do research for me in Poland? or where to write for birth records? I came across your photos by Googling "Grudziadz"...Thanks for your website. Best to you, Pokrop researcher J.Jaeschke, Wisconsin, USA

Hello "Pokrop researcher". I'm not from Grudziądz, I have only been there once. I have to tell you that it is not easy to get any genealogical information here, in Poland. Most of the archives has been destroyed during the II World War. The best places to get an info are churches and their archivea, but first you have to know where your great grandfather was born... and you do not know that, as I understand. I will try to find any info to help you, but I cannot promise anything. My family lives in Poland and we tried many times to do our genealogy research, but I do not have the info before 1895...

Do you know ancestry.com? Maybe you should try there, but I am not sure if it will help you.

You asked me how to spell the name Pokrop. I believe that you know best what his surname was and if it really is Pokrop, the spelling is ok. Greetings and good luck

I have been thinking about that name, maybe it is Prokop, not Pokrop? It's much more popular, bue Pokrop is also possible.

Do you know the web site: http://www.pgsa.org?
