I have enjoyed so many photos in your gallery. Stopping here to thank you as I come from Derby and there is half a chance this loco was made here. Can't make out the name of this engine. Did you make a note?
Have ridden this line but not steam powered to my regret.
Thanks for your interesting feedback Russ, I believe the name of this loco to be "The Sherwood Forester" No.45231 ;>)
The railway is very busy these days since the owners of the track have permitted the use of the 20 mile line for steam locomotives. There is a full schedule of services between Whitby and Pickering. It has proved to be more popular than the regular diesel train that operates on the Esk Valley line ;>)
