Wadi Rum - Lawrence's Spring

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

Desert scenery in the south of Jordan. Made famous by the presence of the Arab Revolt and TE Lawrence in the early 20th century and the movie 'Lawrence of Arabia' by David Lean.

This rather cold december day brought some clouds which made for a rather unusual sky and sunlight/shadow pattern in this usually hot, dusty and cloudless area.

Hi, this is not actually Lawrence's spring at all, though the area was used in the Lawrence film. The real Lawrence Spring is Ain Shellaleh, about 15 mins walk SW of Rum village, into the little high valley below the cliffs. See our guidebooks to Rum Treks & Climbs in Rum and Jordan - Walks, Treks, Caves, Climbs & Canyons. Tony H
