Thanks. I'm glad someone likes it. I had to submit an appeal to get it into Google Earth!

Actually, as dramatic as this photo might look, that isn't smoke from bombs but instead dust kicked up by the helicopters flying so low.

I was going to say the same thing! I didn't think it was a bombing. You can see the helicopters are very low, and the title on the photo says, "Kicking it up". That kind of tells you it is the helicopters kicking up dust!

This picture is a great action shot! Despite it being dust, it really looks like the area is under attack. Like.

It's possibly a "Dust-off" or a smoke grenade- to mark something specific. Choppers rarely- if at all- drop bombs. Likely to be smoke nade due to the altitude of the pair and their positioning doesn't appear to be a launch/lift.

What's a "Dust off"? I can confirm that it wasn't a bomb or any kind of attack. It's just very dusty and this is what it looked like when those helicopters were there. Why they were there and so low that day I don't know!

"Dust off" is the term given to medical evac helicopters..... They could be flying low to fully watch somehting that could be unfolding on the ground. Otherwise it s too risky...
This is a good green zone pic.
