This wonderful, extremely chilly swimming hole is located in Cold Spring Hollow, in Shenandoah National Park just off the Riprap Trail. The water was amazingly clear - it gets to around 6 feet deep in the middle, but you can see the bottom easily.

A beautiful spot captured very well Brandon. You've got some great color and detail in this. Well done.

Thanks Tom! The color in the pool was amazing -- a green color that I've only seen in deep mountain stream water like this.

I agree with Tom, Brandon. This is another beauty. I too love that crystal green color in these holes. I have not been down here for about 10 years or so. Maybe it's time to head down there again! Oh by the way...My wife and I just bought a house in Nelson. Really good deal about a half mile from the old Wintergreen Country Store, so I will just have to be a 'farther away' neighbor now ;-)). How is school going? Are you back in Troy? Bruce

Yeah Bruce, this is a great hole to visit. If you drive up from the Valley side, it's only about a mile hike, even less than the trek to Blue Hole =) Glad you got a good deal on a house, I guess the prices are low these days. Nelson is certainly a beautiful county, lots of things to do outdoors, and plenty wineries to visit too. I'm actually done with school now, I got my MS. I have a full time job starting in January, so for the time being I'm just hanging around home. I'd love to get lunch at the Batesville Store some time!

Hey, congrats on the MS Brandon! I think I had known at one point that you were finishing up but must have forgotten. Things did not work out for the house....the inspection found many, many issues that we just could not deal with at this point, so I guess we are staying put for the time being. Would love to grab some lunch at the Store sometime and catch up. I am generally free on Fridays and of course on the weekends. The next couple weekends we are booked as we will be on vacation, but let me know when might work for you. Bruce

Thanks Bruce, and sorry about the house. I'm free almost any day of the week for the next couple of months -- I'm enjoying my time off before entering the "real world" =)

Thank you Julie, must have missed your comments the first time around. The color was my favorite part also. You should definitely hike the Riprap trail if you're ever in this part of Virginia!
Thanks Manu and Isabel, and season's greetings from the States!
