The building to the right is The Towers. A landmark on Blagreaves Lane. It has a long and remarkable history, including being for a long while, six flats. When I lived there, newly married, in the front top room in the 70's we had to burn the furniture stacked and stored on the huge landings just to keep warm. A photo from the north would better show the actual tower where I very occasionally visited through the guano covered loft. Once, around 1976, (I guess) the pilot of a spitfire, flying near St Peters to celebrate the funeral of an RAF officer spotted me on the roof of the tallest building for miles waved and wagged his wings. One of those moments.
