This bridge, known as Fisher's Bridge, was built in 1912, and was in service through 1956. The State currently plans to tear it down as a part of renovation of the nearby bridge which replaced this work of engineering art, sculpture in its own right.

That's a shame it is going to be torn down, I always admired the steel work on this bridge. My great grandparents' house was just up on the hill next to here.

Sadly this beautiful old bridge is has been recently torn down, according to the local weekly, The Morgan Messenger. The old foundations which this old bridge sat on will be reused to support a temporary bridge while the bridge which has carried Route #9 across the Cacapon River for the past 50+ years is being reconstructed. After the temporary bridge is no longer needed, it will be torn down, and only the foundations of this old bridge will be visible.
