Now that looks real. Beautiful bright green grass too! So you are coming down to land near here....and are just going to miss the church? I was trying to gauge on the map about how far you went, and it looks about 9 or 10 miles, almost in an totally straight line too, so does that mean there was no wind to alter your course slightly, or can balloons be steered effectively anyway, I am wondering.....?
I have so enjoyed your balloon series, William! Thank you again for being brave enough to go up in a balloon and for having the forsight to take these wonderful photos to share. I would have been far too busy on my knees in the bottom of the basket to ever have taken such incredible images.. (not keen on heights, I think)..
Very best wishes to you,
Not much steering in balloons - you just end up wherever the wind takes you. Here we were off the pilot's map as the wind was from the North East - an unusual direction for us. It was about 10 miles but you wouldn't need to worry about heights - you feel very secure in the basket (until you start wondering about the landing). As we got lower towards the end of the flight you could hear kids shouting up from the ground - the highest we got was about 800 m.
Great shot. The roof of my house is at the very base of this picture overlooking the market square. I'm getting vertigo just looking at it.. amazing to see my view from so high up
Hi Mike, I have some other shots if you would like me to email them to you. I thought I ought to come round and do the door-to-door selling thing but.. Cheers, William
Hi William. I would be interested in having a look at those. I had a look at some other shots of yours - very impressive... Mike
Hi William I would be interested. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org
