Thanks. Unfortunately, I can't pinpoint the location exactly. All I know is that the photo was taken during a flight from DTW to LAX, two hours after passing over Chicago's O'Hare Airport.

The marker is in the Tule Valley in Western Utah, with the Confusion Range to the West and the Sawtooth Mountains to the East-Northeast. The Sawtooths have a marker peak called Notch Peak, very distinctive, can be seen from a considerable distance. UT 50 through King Canyon in the Confusion Range is a fun drive; a southern valley is Horse Heaven, as a group of mustangs has lived there many years. The dry Lake to the East is the Sevier Lake. Are you still reading? Looks like the photo is taken from the southern end of the Cconfusion Range.

Wait, only two hours out of Chicago? Did you get the location form a GPS? Any pilots around? Thinking great circle route to LAX, my guess is that at two hours, this is more likely to be Northern Colorado or Southern Wyoming, perhaps West of Laramie?

No GPS, placing the marker was a wild guess. All I know is that the picture was taken 127 minutes after this one right over O'Hare and that the flight continued on what felt like a straight shot to LAX. The next picture with an identifiable location (LAX airport facilities, but still in the air) was taken 102 minutes later. I'd appreciate any hints as to the actual location.

I fly a lot between Salt Lake and St. Louis, and usually watch the mountains from the Wastach front to the Colorado front range. (I know the area around the marker because I enjoy camping in the desert.) But the photo could be a number of places. Were you shooting from the port or starboard side, i.e., looking North or South?

An isolated, glaciated mountain like that, highly unlikely it is in Utah. Most likely in Colorado or New Mexico.

Ah! I found it: Looking south at Sierra Blanca and Little Bear Peak north or Fort Garland, CO.

Looks like it! Yes, the photo was taken looking south, BTW. Thanks for everybody's help! I have relocated the marker.

Huerfano Valley, Sangre de Christo Range, Colorado. Blanca Peak is top middle, and you can see the California Rock Glacier in the middle on the right side of the valley (west side).
