Thanks Paul. I'm glad you think it's a pretty picture. I actually love spiders and have seen some gorgeous ones in Florida. Greetings from soggytown, Mary

So cool to hear you like spiders Mary. This picture is wonderful. Think this is a species witch is close related to this one. This is the Wasp spider in Holland. This was my first encounter with it in the North of Holland. They where found in Holland for the first time some years ago. It seems this species is migrating to more northern parts of Europe.

Thank you Kostas for your generous comment. I'm sorry it took me so long to reply. Somehow I missed many comments from October.

Erik are you an expert on spiders? I know very little about them except the common names of the ones I see often. I will post some more spider pictures for you when I can capture them.

Wow, this looks like a beast - is it just colourful or does it have a bite?

MaryKnapp on January 14, 2010

Mary

I'm not sure, Paul. It's an outdoor spider, so I imagine it mainly bites bugs. I could put my finger near its mouth, if you're really curious! ;-P

Cheers

Mary
