Cobijado en un pequeño valle, en las faldas de las sierras de Carén, Chada y La Compañía - en la sexta región-, Lo Miranda está ubicado entre Rancagua y Doñihue, en la ribera norte del río Cachapoal. Su bautizo ocurrió en 1577, cuando el lugar fue encomendado a Pedro de Miranda, compañero de Pedro de Valdivia durante la Conquista. Actualmente, una morenísima y orgullosa estirpe de apellido Miranda, mayoritario en el pueblo, recuerda a su lejano pariente español.
