Um in diesen Regionen zu überleben, wurde seit Jahrhunderten jeder m2 Land genutzt, selbst auf steinigsten Wiesen, was viel zur Attraktivität der Landschaft beiträgt. Heute ist auch der Fremdenverkehr eine wichtige Einnahmequelle.
