arrived in Manila - but is it life?

Pembo - this is a repeat of a comment I made on another of your entries... Pembo, I've traveled all over the world and everywhere I've gone, I've met jerks like you. You come from a country with one of the sketchiest of backgrounds, yet you feel compelled to denigrate other countries with your holier-than-thou ethnocentristic mutterings. Understand this, Pembo... no one cares what you think. What you are speaks so loudly that no one can hear you anyway. You might practice repeating the phrase "There, but for the grace of God (and the generosity of the Americans after they defeated my country) go I." Why don't you just stay home, enjoy your fellow egotists and make everybody happy?

Nav85: A word says journey forms, but an exception proves the rule. You are obviously one. What'd you learn while you were out of the Pinas? If you don't like my pics or what I wrote, why you visite my sites? Live your dream and don't annoy other people. And if you have a wake moment, ask yourself what you've done in your life to change some things in your homeland. Don't excpect, that other people have a loss of reality like you. In the moment you denie these kind of locations you denie the people who lives there or in similar conditions.You're a hero!

I visited the Philippines in 2008, I loved every minute of it. So what there are some shanties, what choice do they have. Filipino'a are a proud people, I just wish the government would do more to break the poverty cycle. The nicest houses I saw when I was there were owned by politicians. I am looking forward to my next visit.

This is not at all unusual.

In New York, we have some people living in cardboard boxes.

The area depicted in this photo looks like some areas near Baltimore, where I have seen people sleep on the sewer grates to stay warm.

AALLSS: There are too much areas like this all over the world.

Misterduffman: I visited the Philippines several times and I will do again. Unfortunately your wishes won't become true. And this is not a local problem of the Philippines.

... what a silly request to ask for the removal of a picture because it is 10 years old, although I've heard it myself as well. Most of my pics are even older. They show the world as it has been then. What's wrong with that?

LutzP: Danke für Deinen Besuch und den Kommentar. An solche - hier eher harmlos - Sachen muss man gewohnt sein, wenn man Bilder von philippinischen Shantys veröffentlicht. Die "Kritiker" entstammen wahrscheinlich immer der gleichen Klientel. Das Foto wurde übrigens aufgenommen, als diese Behausungen angeblich schon abgerissen waren.

Hallo pembo, wo kann man denn solche "Zeitreisen" buchen? Das kann man doch kommerziell verwerten ;-))

Wo immer ich es noch weiß, schreibe ich das Jahr mit in den Titel, trotzdem kommen dann Kommentare wie dieser. Die Welt verändert sich eben!

LutzP: Man könnte es unter "Fata - Morgana -Travel" anbieten. Ich lasse das Datum bei solchen Fotos sehr bewusst weg, da es kein temporäreres Problem ist. Es mag an der abgebildeten Örtlichkeit u. U. so sein. Ich sehe es aber beispielhaft für ein dort allgegenwärtiges Problem.

... dass das ein generelles Problem ist, ist klar und nachvollziehbar. Insofern ist das Bild natürlich beispielhaft. Meine Absicht ist eine andere als deine, weil ich zeigen will, wie es z.B. da 1950 ausgesehen hat.
