Hello!
The picture icon should indicate the camera position (aircraft latitude and longitude of the aircraft, balloon, parachute or whatever) and it was not above the runway.
The position is not correct. It needs to be moved 1km in direction 130˚.

Hi, Not agree with you. When a satelite take a shot, you 'll indicate the satelite position or the picture position ?. With this picture, you cannot guess if the glider is 1 km or 10 km far with very good zoom :) Regards.

Sattelite images are generally vertical shots and your picture is not a vertical shot.
In a glider you need to know how far it is to the aerodrome. It is an estimate, not a wild guess, so I assume you knew the direction and distance to the runway. I also think you were well aware of your airspeed, heading and altitude.
You should know it was not 10km.

I can guess that you are right handed and the camera was in your left hand. That would explain why the camera was not level. I can also guess that you were at 700m altitude heading for Montarlot where you made a right hand turn onto the final approach.
Now for a better estimate, 1km is not enough. You were 1.5km (horizontal distance) from the runway. This is measured by corelating landmarks in the picture with the same in Google Earth. The field of view is 36˚(not a high zoom factor).
