The first time I saw this old chap, or one of his brothers, was nearly 50 years ago. An uncle had some fields on the mainland side of the bridge and he took me down to see the lions. I didn't know what to expect but I can remember being disappointed when the only roar I heard came from a steam train coming from Holyhead.

Llion, not sure how accurately I have placed this image - perhaps you could advise? Oh, how impressive that must have been to see a steam train 'roaring' past those lions. Todays trains are so tame in comparison! Pleased to have stumbled across one of the lions - do you know if the other three are still in existence? Cheers Chris

Hi If your lion lives on the mainland then the location is correct. I have my own lion, Anglesey side http://www.flickr.com/photos/49226989@N00/138348744/in/set-72057594127125221/ I believe the 4 lions are still there, following your 1st contact I took a walk to the bridge this PM Photos on flickr user name llionellis

Thanks, Llion, 'My' discovered lion does indeed live on the mainland. I live and work in Rugby but have three days holiday the week after next and will go back to my parents in Porthmadog. I foresee a mission to find and photograph this lions brothers! I will post any successful discovery in due course... Regards Chris
