If you've been past Hilger's on US 30W recently, you will see that a giant pumpkin made of straw is back and bigger than ever! (It's 20ft taller this year!) The world's largest pumpkin is made of 4,050 square bales of straw. It's height is 42ft, circumference is 183ft, and weighs 222,750lbs. - that's 111 tons!
It took almost three weeks to construct and complete this enormous masterpiece. Every bale is individually tied to a central pole. To make the stem, we top it off with a large round bale. Then we spray-paint the whole pumpkin orange and finish it off with a jack-o-lantern face. Hilgers Market
