Aguasabon Falls is in Terrace Bay right off of Hwy 17. The paved road to the falls is just west of the town and is well marked. This waterfall is definitely best seen when the water is higher. In all of the pictures I have seen there is a torrent rushing over the cliffs (see the photos in the Terrace Bay website). In August the water stays in contact with the rocks largely due to the fact that most of the water is diverted upstream for power generation.

The main viewing deck faces the side of the falls and down the gorge. When the water is high this is an impressive sight. There is a nature trail from which a nice view of the falls head on is available. The trail leads to the bottom of the gorge. It is possible to get to the top of the falls. Getting to the bottom is impossible unless you are willing to climb down the rock cliffs, or swim up the gorge.

The pictures do not do the falls justice. They were taken in the early evening when the water was low. The falls are much higher than they appear in the pictures. Unfortunately getting a person to go stand by the top of the falls while taking a pictures is not easy.

Summary: Easily accessed and quite impressive when the water is high. There is no reason not to stop by and have a look if you are traveling Hwy 17.

This foto was taken on a rainy day.The fall colors made it worthwhile driving all the way from Thunder Bay to Terrace Bay to see.
