This church was built between the 11th and 15th centuries and stands on the site of an old Saxon church. Many features of this church may be attributed to the town's prosperity as a centre of the wool trade. A memorial stone to the Battle of Stow in 1646, the last battle of the English Civil War, stands in the grounds.
