Bourton-on-the-Water is known as the 'Venice of the Cotswolds' with the five stone bridges crossing the crystal clear River Windrush flowing through the town. Mill Bridge at the western end of the green was built in 1654 and is the oldest bridge. It was originally called the Broad or Big Bridge.
