Thanks Pom'
Penshaw Monument stands on the top of Penshaw Hill on the outskirts of Sunderland. It can be seen for miles around and is the Northeast's best known landmark. It was built in 1844 in honour of John George Lambton, the first Earl of Durham who was known locally as "Radical Jack" Lambton. For more information go to www.penshawmonument.co.uk
