Hi Matthew, it's been a while since I've checked out your gallery. I really like this one...did you use a Lensbaby lens to take this? If so, which one did you use? I'm interested in getting one but would like your assessment.

Best to you, SirFin

Hi SirFin, thanks for the comment. Yes, this is a lensbaby shot - I use a 3G, which has been replaced by the Control Freak. It's worth a look at the LB web site to see comparions between the effects available with the new set of optics.

Thanks Matthew...I've been looking at the different Lensbabies...thought the Composer looked cool. Have you used it much since you bought it? Any shots that beg to be taken with it? SirFin

I looked at the composer when they launched it, but couldn't justify the cost at the time. My 3G is always on the front of my D100 - it means I don't travel light now as I take two (camera) bodies everywhere. That said, the LB is probably my favourite lens, I just have difficulty explaining why my photos are blurred...

I tend to take shots of the same subject on both the LB and normal glass. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't - if anything, I think architecture shots work nicely, as do close-ups or mid-range views. I'm not sure about wide landscapes, although I have done a couple.

I now have the .42 wideangle converter which gives an interesting effect.

Matthew, I appreciate the insight! I just may spring for one of these lens. Say, have you done any HDR images with them? Sirfin

Matthew Walters, on June 1, 2009, said:

I have done a couple of HDR's, yes. You will definitely need the composer or control freak, so that you don't loose the sweet spot between shots. You might also want to process each individual shot first, as the LB suffers from (or features, depending on your point of view) chromatic aberration (purple fringing) which may be amplified by the HDR process. I have also done a 360 degree panorama!

I think this one was HDR, as was this one.
