What a splendid view! Just beautiful!! I will have to check it out in person next time I hunt for geocaches in the area.

Oh do visit; the whole area is beautiful, virtually everywhere you look. This year they're starving the lake of water in an effort to boost the kokanee population by reducing the shallow spawning areas of their predators. So hopefully, this watershed and the lake will be full and vital again by late Spring. And maybe the kokes will make a comeback too!

Nice shot samsilverhawk...and a great explanation of the "Save the Kokanee"!I'd never heard of such a procedure. Although for many viewers you may wish to explain that a Kokanee is a fish!!! (Many Canadians would think you are saving a beer...)

Conrad Nay, I'll drink to that! Just so happens Kokanee beer is the only one for me. Yes, a kokanee (with a small 'k') is indeed a fish, very tasty too, and native to Lake Pend Oreille. I sincerely hope they do make a comeback. One old timer, former owner of the River Delta campground, told me that back in the glory days, they used to catch 50 to 100 kokes A DAY! Anyway, thanks for your comments, sir. And thanks also to PreacherCasy for the vote!! -Sam
