Hi mbnznl.
I reckon that this building is one of the only ones in the Arts Centre that have not suffered serious damage in the Feb.22nd 2011 Mag 6.3 aftershock.
The whole city centre has been hit very hard - it will take a lot to fix some buildings up, and a lot are being pulled down for safety. Reports suggest that about one third of the city centre buildings have serious damage to them.
Even now, March 23rd we are not able to into or walk around the city centre. Many of the buildings are so badly damaged.
I think it wall be a shock to so many people when they do venture inside the four Avenues.
On Sunday 20th Feb I walked home from the South City Mall - when I get to do that again, there will be large vacent areas where buildings are no longer in existance due to that aftershock...

If you want to take a look at the images on the internet, go open googleearth, zoom in on Christchurch.
Then click on the little clock up on the top, the 'Historical Imagery' thing. Then move the slider back to the left a few millimetres, to where it shows 26th Feb 2011.
Then go and look at the damage as recorded from the sky...
It is pretty serious. A lot of people did not survive that day, and there are still people that have not been located as yet.
Christchurch was king hit, I'm afraid, mbnzml.
Peter.
