Thanks Paula. This walk has superb views. If you look to the east a little further along you can see Ferrybridge Power Station on the horizon. On a really clear day Eggborough and Drax power stations are clearly visible from this spot and beyond them a faint blue horizon formed by the escarpment of the Yorkshire Wolds. You can "follow the photos" for a leisurely hour and a half's linear walk by catching the 232 Huddersfield bus (5 past the hour from Wakefeld bus station) to Smithy Lane at the top of Overton returning to Wakefield via Netherton on the 231 bus that leaves the Black Bull at Midgely at 2 minutes past the hour. Let us know when to put the kettle on! John

John Superb shot this lane has been used for quite while I'd guess over 1000 years. With the bus information you gave above you should write a travel book. It's always a problem doing a walk and returning to one's start point.
