Bidston Hill is a long narrow standstone hill lying in the middle of the north end of the Wirral peninsula. A walk around it shows many curiosities. This is a lighthouse situated about 3 miles inland, used to guide ships bound for Liverpool into the Mersey

My Great, Great Grandfather was the lighthouse keeper. This would have been in the mid to late 1800's. He was William Mathias. Finished his service at the lighthouse in New Brighton in 1902.
