Bidston Hill is a long narrow standstone hill lying in the middle of the north end of the Wirral peninsula. A walk around it shows many curiosities. This is carved in the local sandstone, and is thought to be of Viking origin depicting both the Sun and moon godesses.

I always have difficulty believing the age of the sun goddess. Whilst metal detecting by her feet I found two pieces of wood nailed together to form a cross. Also a large gold crayon about 1 inch thick, needless to say I left them in situ. Were they left by modern worshippers, the all to recent creator,or as I like to think by a recent christian trying to convert a genuine pagan sun goddess ? GREAT PHOTOGRAPHY keep up the good work.
