The water from this lake flows into the Rhine and with it into the North Sea. The Lukmanier pass (1920m) was always a very important pass crossing the mountains, more under this picture.

Das Wasser aus diesem See fliesst in den Rhein und damit in die Nordsee. Der Lukmanier (1920m) war von jeher ein sehr wichtiger Passübergang, mehr dazu unter diesem Bild.

Herrliches Bild May! Lang wird´s nicht mehr dauern, dann versinkt alles für Monate im Schnee.

Oh that's nice ! I have been here twice, once in 2004 with so dence clouds, visability was aproximatly 40 meters. The lake was not visable from the passhöhe. The second time, it rained very hard, but at least i saw the lake that time :-) Thanks for showing this picture with sun !
