Main Branch of the New York Public Library - Fortitude the Library Lion - Fifth Avenue at 42nd Street, NYC - July 2008 . . . . The Lions guarding the main branch of the New York Public Library have had several names over the course of their existence. In the 1930's, NYC Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia named them Patience and Fortitude, the names persisting to this day.

We found it by accident - the public Lib is not really announced as a must see in NYC. But we stayed in and outside some hours. Doris found 9 "Neubauer" and i took some wonderful shots of that architecture. We have been there on 23th of july - it still is wraped?

By wrapped, do you mean the construction/renovation scaffolding etc.? They are just at the beginning of a 3 year renovation/restoration project, both inside and outside, so I think that will be there for quite some time.
