Bardzo mi się podoba to zdjęcie! Twój cień jest jak podpis malarza na obrazie :) Bardzo ciekawie wyszło.

If you like Wroclaw as well as your photos indicate, then you must be happy with your city. Actually, your Warsaw-photos are good too, but I see your observation on the rich south and poor north - a rather critical approach.

Janina_Bieleńko on October 30, 2008

Omar I don't understand the politics of a local administrative authority.

They don't have money (as the young boys said me) to rebuild infrastructure and don't decide to sell occupiers their flats with 90% abatement for example.

We had such actions in Wroclaw. Several times. One my "family" flat is located in very old house (built about 1917) - 11 occupiers have bought up their flats with a great abatement and now we decide what to rebuild or invest.

I suppose the people - as owner of their flats - can do much more than bureaucracy...

Very nice shot Janina, I hope to visit your country one day. Greetings from Florence Eli

Janina_Bieleńko on October 30, 2008

WOW! Elisabetta! Such declaration under my photo of the neglected house attests to your curiosity of real word without any make up. I respect you :) Janina

The best way to preserve houses is to have people living in them. There are many examples of that in Ísafjörður. Of course owners take more care of houses than those who just rent them. Actually all the energy and money of me and Nína goes to our house, which was built in 1914, 1920 and 1938.

Janina_Bieleńko on October 30, 2008

Oh, yes. On say it is easier (and cheaper sometimes) to build a new house than rebuild an old one.

Thank you for your respect Janina, I like to see the reality in a country/town that I visit, and not the make up. Usually I travel backpacking in summertime up and down in Europe, discovering what is different from Italy, this is what I'm searching for, and I always find it in old "neglected" houses telling me the history of the country I'm visiting. Eli

Dzięki Piotrze Buduje się wspaniała galeria B&W i jest fajnie :)

Hello Eli I accept your way of visiting the foreign territories. We have to "shake off" ourselves or "commingle" if we like to know the country and the people. It is impossible during coach party... what I tried to do because I am not a driver...

When I was traveling as a hitchhiker I could say I knew the country... It was my best trip but many moons ago :(

Ómar Smári Kristinss… on October 31, 2008

Some people say that you have not been to a place until you have WALKED there. Some truth in that.

I understand, Eli, what you say about the old houses - they carry much more of a country´s culture than the new ones, which tend to be so international and of course unable to carry a lot of history. That´s one reason, for me and Nína, renovating an old house, rather than just building a new one.

Janina_Bieleńko on October 31, 2008

I understand you... for this reason I came back to the old flat which still waits for general renovating... I like here everything except the tempereature - so low in the winter :( I am really disappointed none engineer can invent a cheap heating ...

Ómar Smári Kristinss… on November 2, 2008

The best heating is a good isolation. Through our rebuilding we do not save money on isolation material. That will save us a lot of heating-costs in the future.

Janina_Bieleńko on November 2, 2008

Yes, you are right. But some written rules of housing branche says it is not well to put an isolation inside of the flat ... I think it is easer to do something with the house than with the flat.

...no i rzucona myśl przybiera realne kształty - tylko pogratulować, a ja z poziomu zwykłego "pstrykacza" podziwiam Wasze fotki. Życzę powodzenia i sedecznie pozdrawiam - Henryk
