Aye Ray, that Johnny Depp was the perfect choice for the "Captain Jack Sparrow" role. I have watched the film several times, its a good story and yes, this does remind me of THE BLACK PEARL. Your feedback is most entertaining and you have linked the Ghost ship so well. Now will you lift the curse for I have found the golden coin.
Greetings pumpkinbox. How nice to see you again. I have had a lot of fun with this photo and received so many nice comments. I'm so glad that you like it too. Many thanks.
At thumbnail size this reminded me of an icebound ship - then next size up yes I thought Johnny Depp - but I see others have been down that road before me.
I seem to have lost the plot here folks and looking back through my gallery I can see that I missed my friends yves--Lorenzo--and Miguel.
Muchas gracias por sus amable cumplido e' visita . . Saludo desde!!
Lorenzo, there was not a crewman to be seen!! wierd!!
Little more than a year ago yves, I would not have seen the potential in this image. The inspiration for my work is drawn from what I have seen and enjoyed in so many superb galleries here on panoramio, including your own and I am, therefore, so very grateful for your kind appraisal-- ;>)
Greetings Nick and welcome to my salty olde worlde. The boats and trains are all within close proximity to my home, I am rarely short of subjects to snap. Thanks for your kind appraisal Nick :>)
Your friendly visit and nice comments are much appreciated folks.
The answer to your question is very easy. What you see is simply a reflection in the water. I stood very close to the front of the sailing ship (you can check this location out from the place marker) and pointed my camera onto the reflection. Later, I edited the image in PhotoShop Elements6. I rotated the image and removed the colour to give B+W and then cropped off the stuff I didn't want.
If you require any further explanation, please feel free to ask ;>)
Thanks for your very kind explanation Jim! For a while I was thinking that you did it on this way after and it is not a reflection. Now I see. Kind as always!
Many thanks Christian, I am now auditioning for the Ghost Pirates ;>)
That's a great compliment on my photo Don, I'm grateful for your valued opinion and Y* !
JAZZ, I have yet so much to learn about monochrome, but I think that for some images, it has the potential for portraying the mood and drama that colour cant match ;>)
