By damming the brook in the 80's the council formed this small lake that is a popular place for kids and ducks alike.
It is termed a "balancing reservoir" - It provides space for water when there is a storm - the water is slowly released downstream be a smallish pipe. This prevents lower areas getting an overwhelming rush of water.
Didn't know it had a name. Used to mess around here when most of the area was allotments. Remember in the early eighties some pr!n near Rosumond's Ride dumped a load of engine oil down a nearby drain that somehow found its way into the pond and ruined a season for the wildlife.
