Lovely colours in the sky kamaly and planets well alighed. Are those shooting stars? I can't work out whether its a cloud nearest the moon or something else.
Hi Marbiz! The linear clouds are all jet contrails. The vertical one just left of the moon is several minutes old, and had started out to the right of the moon. The two sharp ones have the planes at their right ends. It was a pretty cool evening, that's for sure!
Very nice work Kamaly ... this long-exposure night obsession of yours is soon going to become much colder I think. Best to get it out of your system now!
Thanks, Nawitka - I know !!! It was pretty chilly out this week-end. I've got to be much better prepared for the next one of these!
And Thanks, steve and guy - well, perhaps, guy, but its still a pretty jiggly science. Still can't manage to get a nice crisp moon or star/planet dot in there - better luck (or better tripod) next month! I also got another of the back of the Fisherman's statue, but with this sky...so frustrating - too similar to last week's to post another, but I might break down and duplicate post on the same page...
Thanks, Don! I keep trying to get by with the little folding ones that are so much easier to carry around, but they just don't stay solid ( and the joby's work well, but are naturally too low if there's nothing to wrap them around...) Time to give up and use a real one!
Well thank-you Dann! Though I slightly suspect you may like it because it looks a bit like that contrail cloud is snacking on the well-buttered crescent moon ;)
Hi Kamaly. Great photo, but back to Joni, could this be "rows and floes of angel hair"??
Venus Jupiter and the moon are due to line up in a smiley face formation tonight. We should see around 8.00pm it seems.
Thanks for the info re the forum. I just found it under my own profile. I discovered the email address yesterday so did contact. I emailed Dianne yesterday and said I was going to ask you via a photo to help. Knew I could rely on you.
Thanks. Helen.
Hi Helen - well the Fisherman would certainly appreciate knowing that's what he's staring out at :)
I'm envious of you if you've got clear skies! We're in the middle of an ice/sleet/rain storm, so no chance tonight, and for the big show on Monday, it would both have to clear and I'd need to be clear of work responsibilities to able to run out for a bit late afternoon - so, it's possible I'll get a shot, be not too likely. I'll be checking our shots!
Glad you found the link in the forum. Unfortunately, there's no direct on-site location to notify the site admins of problem users like that - but they do check the e-mails.
OOOOOOOOOooo Kamaly I raced out at 9.00 into my driveway, the view was PERFECT - cloudy out one window, but clear in the driveway - AND the attachment that screws onto the camera and slots into the tripod has fallen off and missing who knows where. So we will have to rely on Dianne for the southern version. I haven't looked at mine yet, but they will be bad like my mood now. If Dianne doesn't get one, I'll put one up for 5 minutes so you can at least have a laugh!!! Cheers H
well, Helen, even if nothing really came out well, you got out the to see the sight! So interesting to realize it was a happy face in Australia - by the time it's sunset here, if the clouds part, it will be an upside-down unhappy face! They're saying the clouds are likely to clear, so I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed. Hope your shots came out well enough, though!
Thanks very much, Ippa :) Sure is amazing how much the sky changes from month to month. I forgot how far apart Jupiter and Venus were in this shot from a month ago, and tonight they and the moon are all gathered together.

Hi there, it's mostly cloudy here (be quiet Joni) I might email Dianne, she has a better zoom just in case!!

Wonderful deep and bright sky/space! Beautifully captured :D
