France, la Mine d'Or (Gold Mine) de Salsigne dans l'Aude

La mine d'or de Salsigne, est une ancienne mine d'or fermée en 2004 qui se situe sur les communes de Salsigne et de Villanière à 15 km au nord de Carcassonne dans le massif de la Montagne Noire, dans le département de l'Aude et la région Languedoc-Roussillon. Elle a été la plus importante mine d'or d'Europe Occidentale et la dernière de France métropolitaine. The gold mine Salsigne has been closed since July 2, 2004, primarily due to excessive pollution of watercourses and soil. This old mine is now in the cleanup. It is located 20 km north of Carcassonne. This gold mine have supplied over 110 tonnes of gold since its inception in 1910 and retain another 30 tons of reserves. Annual production was 2 tons.
