I think that this picture demonstrates the sheer size and scale of some glaciers. People who I have shown this photo to are always astonished when I tell them that everything behind the trees is mountain or glacier and not clouds or sky.

Thanks for the vote. The debris that you see floating are mainly hundreds of thousands of ice chips. These range from pieces the size of your hand to pieces the size of sofa. As I am sure you know nine tenths of the ice that you see floating, is under water. It is called the Moraine and it increases as more glaciers melt owing to climate change.

Hi Myra,
As you say "Un-Imaginable". I think that all of the best shots of Alaska came from the first trip. We went back last September and it rained every single day.
We did visit Glacier Bay again but the visibility was so bad that I came very close to calling it a day. I am glad however that you liked this picture.
