In the village Valendas are 13 public fountains. The one in this photo is of wood and was erected in the year 1760. The sculpture is also of wood and shows a rivermaid in honour of the near Rhine in the Ruinaulta (gorge). Valendas as Valendanum goes back to the year 765 a.Chr.
In Valendas hat es 13 öffentliche Brunnen. Derjenige im Bild ist der grösste Holzbrunnen der Schweiz und wurde 1760 errichtet. Die Skulptur oben auf dem Brunnenstock ist auch aus Holz und stellt eine Wassernixe dar zu Ehren des nahen Rheins unten in der Schlucht.

Manfred, ich verstehe es so, dass der Brunnen, 1760 erbaut wurde. Zitat aus der Valendas-Website: Der mit Abstand älteste und grösste ist der mitten im Dorf stehende Holzbrunnen. Er ist mit 1760 datiert und wird von einer Brunnenjumpfer geschmückt. Gruss, May
