Hi, picsonthemove.

Church tower is visible here in upper part - next to the church entrance is visible small chapel, known as Kaplica Czaszek or Chapel of Skulls (or Skulls Chapel) - where the altar are made of skulls and bones. Unique place in Europe.

Another story is about cemetery - there are a lot of tombs with Polish, Czech and German surnames. It's also not a common view in Poland to meet still open cemetery around the church. Most of them were moved in 17th or 18th century far from human settlements due to sanitation regulations.

Interesting view

Hubert S on November 10, 2008

Thanks, Arif.

Yes, I think it's a better view than from the other side of the church - parking, gift shops and tourist stading in the line to visit famous chapel makes me tired.

BTW you can't take photos inside the skulls chapel, but you can buy postcards with photos from inside. I think something is wrong with the thin line between sacrum and profanum.

Hi, Diana.

Place worth a visit Kaplica czaszek /in Polish :(/

There are only few of this kind: Kutna Hora in Czech Republic, Evora in Portugal and maybe somewhere else.

Hubert S on March 7, 2009

z zewnątrz tak niewinne a w środku....... pozdro

Hubert S on May 26, 2010

patej - no właśnie - w środku.
