Hi Paula, this is one of many churches in the Netherlands, Belgium and western Germany that are named after St Willibrord, also known as the apostle of the Frisians.

Born in 658 in the then Kingdom of Northumbria, he died in the age of 81 years at Echternach, Luxembourg, where he is buried in the abbey church. St Willibrord is the founder of the bishopric of Utrecht and the foresaid abbey at Echternach.

The unicorn is a donkey, and there are several of these donkeys strewn all over the town. It has something to do with a well-known children's rhyme about Wesel.

Hello Mike, hope everything is well with you.

Bonsoir to both of you,

Claus
