Scripps Pier in La Jolla with storm clouds

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

I attempted to recreate the Ansel Adams' classic shot of Scripps Pier. An early season storm was rolling in which provided the clouds and the marine layer hugged the coast of La Jolla. Shot from the bluffs at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography.

very beautiful, great light and composition. B&W has been a wise decision!

Thanks for the feedback. I shot this with the intention of converting to black & white and I'm really happy with the result. I really need to get a print made!

Hi, InstinctImages, B&W is pretty often a very good alternative. I convert a considerable number of my shots to B&W, since I find them often much more inspiring than color.

I just worked my way through your impressive gallery of California. Great work, congrats!
