If you check the size differences between the sea lions you can pretty much tell the yearlings and two year olds from the more mature adult males. The younger they are the more they tend to stick with the rocks closest to the waterline, and huddle up together for warmth. They just don't have the body size and blubber layer yet to keep as warm as they need to. Compare with the larger animals to see what a difference a few more years makes. Provided they don't become orca or shark food along the way.
