Old Coach House rebuilt 1878. Last stop for coaches unable to enter the walled city of York before dusk.

Thanks for your nice comments CIAO, from Des
This is a local Public House near to my home. It used to be an old coaching house where the coaches used to stay overnight in olden days when York was a walled City. Because the gates of the City used to be locked from Dusk till Dawn. Cheers Des .
Beautiful building, nice photo!

Interesting information, Des.
It is an imposing and beautiful building.
Nowadays, what is it?
Making a beautiful photograph!
I really like it!
Best regards to you! Lana
Hi Lana, This building used to be a coaching halt. There used to be stables to the rear, in the old days if a coach arrived at dusk they were not allowed into the city, the gates were closed till dawn, So the coachman and passengers would spend the night here. It is now a public house. Cheers from Des in YORK.
Nice Coach House, Your Round Des Best Regards linrich
Thanks for you nice comments Linrich, Best wishes.
Good shot of the Fox Des. This place hardly ever changes. - Barry, Acomb.
Thanks Barry I thought it made a good subject.
Haven't been in there for many years. I believe it is still a Tetley's House. At the moment I'm waiting for a sunny blue sky for taking shots of the nearby windmill and west bank park.
Yes it is still a Tetleys house as far as I know.. I have just taken photos of the windmill with the sails on , it looks realy good. I find that the best time to photogragh in West Bank park is the autunm when the lease are changing.
